Hardball Capital purchased the team in 2006 as the Fort Wayne Wizards. Hardball partnered with the City of Fort Wayne to build a new ballpark, Parkview Field, that anchors an innovative $120 million mixed-use development known as Harrison Square. In addition to Parkview Field, Harrison Square includes a 250 room Marriott-branded hotel, restaurants and retail space, ballpark-view apartments and an office component.

Parkview Field itself has proven a success for much more than just baseball. The facility has averaged nearly 450 events per year with events other than TinCaps games drawing 100,000 patrons per year through its gates and adding vibrancy to downtown Fort Wayne. Signature events include major concerts, Division I athletic events, community gatherings such as the Fort-4-Fitness half marathon, Greater YMCA Healthy Kids day, Halloween Fright Night and Holiday Night of Lights.

In conjunction with the move to Parkview Field, the team was re-branded as the TinCaps, in honor of local legend John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed. Chapman was an early pioneer and naturalist known for traveling the region and planting apple orchards. Chapman traveled with few material possessions, often carrying only a burlap sack full of seeds and a tin pot with which to cook his meals. In order to keep his hands free for planting, Chapman was known to wear his tin pot on his head—hence the TinCaps moniker. The TinCaps brand has been a tremendous success. It was the top-selling logo in all of Minor League Baseball in 2009 and has remained among the top selling logos in each year since.
