Savannah Sand Gnats

Savannah Sand Gnats The Savannah Sand Gnats are part of a long tradition of baseball in Savannah dating back to 1886. Serving the historic city of Savannah, Georgia and the thriving Coastal Empire region, the Sand Gnats are the Class-A, South Atlantic League Affiliate of the 2006 NL East Division Champion New York Mets. The Sand Gnats play home games in historic Grayson Stadium, the oldest operating stadium in full-season Minor League baseball. Hardball Capital acquired the Sand Gnats in 2008. Under Hardball Capital's management, the team has nearly doubled its attendance.

Hardball's gains in Savannah have come from over $1 million of private investment into Grayson Stadium, increased emphasis on entertainment and the fan experience and making the team a positive force in our community.

The day-to-day operations of the Sand Gnats are supervised by team President John Katz. John joined the Sand Gnats following four seasons with the Salem Red Sox. John was named the South Atlantic League's Executive of the Year in 2010 and Carolina League’s Executive of the Year in 2006. A fourteen year veteran of the baseball business, John received similar recognition twice during his eight years as an executive in the California League.
